I definitely felt as though I had tried everything there was to try in the marketing world, at least once, and I was not at all inspired to try it again.

I had read Jay Conrad Levinson (author of Guerrilla Marketing), I had read this and done this and so forth, but I didn’t have a globe for it to hang on- there wasn’t the whole earth somehow- I had pieces but they didn’t fit together.

What happens is that people would say ‘I wish I could afford you.’ I was feeling so upset by that, becuase I didn’t know what to say. I would think ‘how many more pro bonos I could do’ because that I was the only other thing I could see.

Now there is a whole lot more there that people can interact with. So one thing was having a website that would give people a path and hold me… how do I say that? It’s an active part of my business now, it’s like having another person. There’s somebody else working for me, and there wasn’t before.

I went to the Retreat last year. When I saw the sales page I, as always, scrolled to the bottom to check out the price. And I nearly gagged. Fortunately, Mark was running a promotional price that made it way more affordable. I’m a cheapskate. What can I say?

The content was wonderful. The conversations that followed were inspiring. the connections that were made lasted far beyond the scope of the event. The center was restful and beautiful. I left the retreat with a real-live road map to follow over the next year.

Best of all, I found by the end that my business was on the strongest footing ever and ready to take on the world, and that I was on the strongest foot, too. I felt nourished, body and soul, in a way that I’ve not experienced before or since. It was a hands-on experience that healed some old baggage and left me lighter and nourished and grounded at the same time.
