@Hiro- Isn't it moments like these- looooong moments in the case of you recovering from surgery, oy- when we realize exactly how dependent we are?

Actually, just writing this to you, I've had another realization of yet another place I'm dependent in my business, and where I could use help- in promotion. I often think of myself as "it's all on me to promote x or y" and I'm realizing I can lean into others a lot more. Hmmm... I wonder what that looks like?

Thanks, Hiro!

@Jamie- I love the resourcefulness of theatre! I've never acted on stage, but I did technical theatre for a while in high school and college- building sets, lighting design, running the board, etc. And it's an amazingly collaborative atmosphere.

And, you're right- it's very much a "I'll create magic for you" kind of place. And we're needing to be on the receiving end of that magic more than we know.

Thanks for bringing those memories up for me. And I'm glad what we're doing here is helping you over there!

Wow, synchronicity.

I had a business visioning session last week with Romana Mirza and loud and clear she said to me, "Jamie, you've got to stop doing everything yourself!"

I always say everything I needed to know I learned from the theatre, but this is an area where it has become limited thinking. Theatre taught me to make magic from whatever is at hand. (Need a moon? No problem, I have a hula hoop!) And when a job needs to get done, you just do it. (I've mopped the same stage I've performed on). And I love this. I love the resourcefulness of it, the creativity of it. And it's getting in my way.

So now I'm drawing on the collaborative nature of theatre instead of making the most of its resource-poor nature and I'm starting to reach out and be inspired by people who have and can share areas of expertise that are not my own - and each of our lives, communities and businesses will be richer because of it - Yes!

Thanks, Mark. Your work is a part of the help I'm looking for :)

Mark, this article speaks right to my heart, and to the heart of my business.

Having recently had major surgery, it's become very clear that my business can't flourish by relying only on myself.

I need--and am blessed to receive--so much help from people in each of the categories you've listed in your post.

Perhaps the one place that I haven't let myself ask for help is in the Getting Things Done category. I'm off to remedy that now! :-)

Thank you again for another heart-opening post.

Love, Hiro
