I think that sometimes significant dates seem to create the expectation of something significant from us. The first ezine of a new year, for instance… should it be significant?
I know that developing a business, like nourishing a relationship, or raising kids, or tending a garden, rarely has big, significant events. There are some, but they tend not to be fixed into the calendar, but arise spontaneously.
With a garden, the weather clears and warms, the seeds you’ve been tending have gotten past the tenderest roots stage, and are ready to be put in the earth. That seems so significant.
But, it’s just a moment. And then they are in the dirt in the ground, instead of in their little pots, doing the exact same thing they were doing a moment before… growing.
Your business may be very developed. Or it may feel really new. Regardless of where it is, you no doubt have tender shoots of a new idea growing, and you also are anchored by life experience beyond your business that gives it more stability than you might realize.
Today, this first week of 2023, take a moment and notice that perhaps you have been put into new earth in this new year. And that may be worth noting.
And, what’s being asked is what was being asked last week. That we all bring our hearts, that we contribute, that we be humble and sincere, and willing to receive.
Your business needs consistency, which looks different for each person. Sometimes that consistency is a deep dive a couple of times every month. Sometimes it’s baby steps every week or every day.
I just know that consistency, humility, clear knowledge, love, and a willingness to focus on developing the business itself, and not just doing, doing, doing, is what will carry your business into this new year in a healthy way.
Care for your tenderest roots, for what your business is becoming, because it’s what will carry you in the future.
